Apple's Anti-Repair Tactics

Apple, the maker of iPhones, iPads and iPains around the world like money, a lot. What you may not be aware of is that they have now gone to great lengths to make our lives hell, for both independant repair shops and consumers alike. Unfortunately, this is a very important note to take when getting Apple products repaired.

Apple have now decided that when certain parts are replaced, they will essentially disable features, not because of any technical issues, just because Apple decided that is how they will deal with 3rd party repairs. These issues crop up in newer phones and has been proven by experts in the field by purchasing two identical phones and simply swapping parts. When the parts are not the original parts that came with the phones, they would essentially disable features. For example, replacing the screen will disable certain screen modes and sensors. Unfortunately, what this means is if you have broken your screen, without sending it to Apple, replacing the screen with us for example, will leave the phone without certain features. Unfortunately it does not seem to be the end of the issues. Newer phones may have even more issues such as these going forward.

We will try to compile a list of devices and any known issues in the future, however going forward we will research any phone before performing any actions on the device. We want to ensure there are no surprises for replacing parts and ensure you understand any and all the issues you may face and what your options will be, whether that will be to send it off to Apple or not.

These issues may also affect other devices and manufacturers and we will add or update any entries when details become available.
