Xboxes

Did you know? There has been four Xbox consoles between 2000 and 2022. There has also been various models for each also.

There was the first and original Xbox sometimes referred to as the OG Xbox, then the highly successful Xbox 360, more recently the Xbox One which is actually the third Xbox console in the series and finally the most recent console, the Xbox Series.

Unfortunately, in recent years the naming convention of the last two consoles have confused a lot of customers. To be clear the Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles are two different consoles.

To make things more confusing, the Xbox One consoles had three different versions, the Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X. The original is the standard version, the S is a slimmer and white version and then the X is a more powerful version. Just to add more variants to this, add on the custom versions of these consoles such as Star Wars or Halo branded consoles, some included extra sound chips thus modifying the insides of the boards. There was also digital versions made available also.

You may also remember there were different models of Xbox 360's such as black, white, slim and fat versions. Some of these performed better than others, had more reliability or had different looks.

The latest consoles are the Xbox Series S and X. The S is known to be the cheaper option, however this has a performance equal to the Xbox One X but is still indeed the next console. The S is the white version, does not have a disk drive installed and is digital only and has less internal storage.

The Series X on the other hand, is the best performance console, has more internal storage and a disk drive and also comes in black and looks like a mini-fridge. That being said, it is not quite as large as some might think.

When you require a repair or upgrade on a console, you should ensure you know which console this is for. In the case of the Series S/X you should see the link on the info page or at the bottom of this page for information relating to the drives being locked to consoles making replacements and upgrades difficult.
